This month has been pretty awful so far. Despite having lots of fun in Vegas and Houston, the consequences have been heavy. I've been to the gym maybe five times in April. I haven't gained any significant weight yet, but I don't feel nor look as good as I did. The hectic schedule of my travels also through a wrench in my poker gears (either that or I'm just experiencing normal variance and looking for excuses). I had a pretty big downswing as soon as I got back and just now have recovered for a breakeven month so far (well got dem FPPs). I am very confident in my game though. Everyday you see random fish and even regulars just do the most anti-logic things over and over again, and I can do nothing but lean back and smile.
I did finally do my taxes, though. I went with 2p2's recommendation of Russ Fox for a gambling taxes specialist, and he was extremely helpful and understanding.
On top of getting back into the gym on the regular, my new goal is to start golfing a lot. I have quite a few friends who love to golf, and I am just too bad to thoroughly enjoy going with them. I am looking forward to getting some golf coaching from my friend Mike (name drop) in exchange for some poker lessons. Hopefully, things will go well for both of us.
In the grand scheme of poker news, Pokerstars released today that they will be "solving" (extra emphasis on the quotations) the shortstacking problem. They are going to change the buyin levels from 20-100 big blinds to 20-50 or 40-100. I am not sure how this will affect me. I hope it doesn't hurt. I definitely don't have as much confidence in my 20-50 big blind play as my 100+ play, so hopefully those games don't become popular in PLO, although I think its a very likely scenario. Fingers crossed.
